We are excited to announce that the 2021 Virtual AFAANZ conference program is now available HERE. This is one of our most exciting programmes ever with over 170 paper presentations, academic plenaries and keynotes, panels, industry speakers, exhibitors and much, much more! For many of us it has been far too long since we have caught up face-to-face. Thus, we are proud to announce that in conjunction with our Platinum Sponsor CA ANZ, we are hosting networking hubs in each main centre (our Gold Sponsor CPA Australia in Hobart).

 

These hubs will feature a CA ANZ (CPA Australia) member speaking in a live session with Q&A on a continuation of the conference panel theme of Future Technology and the Profession. Drinks and finger food will be served all for the low cost of $AUD25.  We look forward to announcing all speakers in the lead-up to the event.

Professor Robert Faff (Bond University & Emeritus UQ) is creating an exciting new global research network primarily aimed at research training and capacity building, resting on a foundation theme of responsible science. Importantly, the network aims to inclusively embrace like-minded university researchers centred on the multi-faceted utility provided by the Pitching Research (http://ssrn.com/abstract=2462059) framework, as a natural enabler of responsible science.

Post-Implementation Review of AASB 1049 Whole of Government and General Government Financial Reporting

Dr Kim Langfield-Smith has been engaged by the Financial Reporting Council to undertake an independent Post-Implementation Review of AASB 1049. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the extent to which AASB 1049 and the budgetary disclosure requirements in AASB 1055 Budgetary Reporting have been successful in harmonising GFS and GAAP reporting, whether the benefits outweigh the costs, and whether any improvements to one or both Standards are needed to assist the Standards to meet their objectives.

A Consultation Paper has been prepared with questions for comment aimed specifically at users of government financial statements and at preparers of government financial statements. SUSTAINABILITY ACCOUNTING RESEARCH NETWORK CONFERENCE

The University of Auckland Business School’s Accounting and Finance Department is proud to host the 11th Sustainability Accounting Research Network (SARN) Conference on 9th September 2021. The annual SARN Conference promotes sustainability accounting research within a highly collegial atmosphere.

The conference is the ideal opportunity for both established and early career scholars to workshop their research papers. Papers spanning a broad range of sustainability accounting related topics and methods will be considered for presentation.  More details are available HERE. A-CSEAR Conference: Learning for the Past; Accounting for the Future

The A-CSEAR Conference 2021 (1-3 December) will facilitate a supportive and inclusive environment for social and environmental accountability and accounting research. We encourage all scholars, both emerging and established, to submit their full papers for consideration.  The conference theme for 2021 is ‘Learning from the Past; Accounting for the Future’. This theme will incorporate but not be limited to - accounting to eliminate modern slavery, Indigenous systems, sustainability accounting, designing curriculum for change, and accounting as a tool for empowerment.

The deadline for paper submissions is 9 August 2021.

Journal of Accounting Education

The Journal of Accounting Education (JAED) invites papers on any aspect of sustainability in accounting education for a special issue.  Possible topics include but are not limited to incorporating the UN Sustainable Development Goals into accounting curriculum, preparing future accountants to contribute to a broader reporting landscape including the Global Reporting Initiative and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board Standards and the International Integrated Reporting Council Framework, student perceptions of sustainability in accounting education, incorporating sustainability related case studies into the accounting curriculum, facilitating interdisciplinary approaches in accounting education, and sustainability related work integrated learning for accounting students.  For more details, click HERE

The 2021 PMA Conference and related Special Issue of MAR welcome research on performance measurement and management in a dynamic environment.

The 2021 PMA Conference will be at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, on July 4-7, 2021. Authors are welcome to submit their papers for consideration in a special issue of Management Accounting Research. Submission deadline is August 31, 2021. Click HERE for further details.

 

Hawaii Accounting Research Conference Call for Papers

The Hawai'i Accounting Research Conference (HARC) is an annual global accounting conference organized by the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa (UHM). The International Journal of Auditing is going to have a special issue on “Auditing and Assurance for Small Entities.” Please click here for the Call for Papers.  The closing date is Feb 28, 2022

 

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and The Accounting Review (TAR) have issued a joint call for academic research papers on how key standards are performing in the capital markets. Selected papers will be presented at a joint conference titled Accounting for an Ever-Changing World, currently scheduled for 2-4 November 2022 in New York City, and will be considered for publication in TAR (a publication of the American Accounting Association).  For full details click HERE
