ESG Special Interest Group

COMING IN 2024

We are on the cusp of an era in which integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into research and practice is becoming paramount. Recognizing the growing importance and relevance of sustainable practices and responsible governance in our field, we propose the establishment of the AFAANZ ESG Special Interest Group (SIG). This SIG will serve as a platform to advance the integration of ESG considerations into research and practices.

Data Analytics Special Interest Group

The new DASIG aims to deliver the following benefits for its members and the association as a whole, while making sure there is no disruption to the activities of existing SIGs

Tax Special Interest Group

The Tax Special Interest Group (SIG) is tasked with developing a supportive and productive environment for tax academics and practitioners in Australia and New Zealand who are engaged in or wish to engage in tax research and/or teaching. The Tax SIG will aim to encourage research and education in tax and foster relationships with industry to improve and contemporise academic contributions.

Accounting Education Special Interest Group

The Accounting Education Special Interest Group are a community of like-minded individuals coming together from academia, industry and the accounting profession to collaborate, share and co-create. We aim to improve the quality of accounting education, especially through the development of relevant and innovative curricula, placing a renewed emphasis on effective instruction in accounting programs.

We aim to bring together Australasia's leading Accounting Educators and Researchers in one of the largest communities outside the US.

Accounting History Special Interest Group

To become a member of the Accounting History SIG you will first need to become a member of AFAANZ. The fee for AFAANZ membership is AU$137.50 including GST for applicants residing in Australia and AU$125 for applicants residing outside Australia. Note that membership is based on a calendar year.

The fee for the Accounting History SIG is AU$22 including GST for applicants residing in Australia and AU$20 for applicants residing outside Australia. Click on the purchase button to gain access to this SIG. You may also "Join this Group" further below to be keep up to date with the latest news and events.

Auditing and Assurance Special Interest Group

The Auditing and Assurance Special Interest Group (AASIG) aims to develop a supportive environment for accounting academics in Australia and New Zealand who are engaged in, or wish to engage in auditing and assurance research and/or teaching. The AASIG aims to support research, education and foster relationships with practice in order to improve the contribution of academics to the auditing and assurance areas.

Finance Special Interest Group

The mission of the Finance Special Interest Group is to provide services to members that enhance the interaction among those with common specialist interests to assist in the fulfilment of the mission of AFAANZ.

Members of the Finance SIG comprise experienced and well-published academics, early and mid-career academics and higher degree research students.

Financial Reporting

The members of the Accounting Standards Special Interest Group recently voted to change the Group's name to the Financial Reporting Special Interest Group.

This group aims to develop a supportive environment for accounting academics and research students in Australia and New Zealand who are engaged in, or wish to engage in financial reporting and other financial accounting research and/or teaching. The SIG 3 aims to support research and education and to foster engagement with practice in order to improve the contribution of academics to the financial reporting and broader financial accounting areas. Members may include those with interests in all aspects of financial accounting but with a focus on financial reporting, whether in private, public or not-for-profit sectors.
