Dr Suresh Sood, Chief Data Scientist, AccountingPod

Suresh helps to build intelligent systems that think, feel, and act powered by insight, guided by purpose. These systems respond like people with context, emotion, and intention. As one of Australia’s early voices in data science, Suresh works across AI, behaviour, and sustainability. Suresh turns unstructured data into decisions that matter from sensory experiments to transformer-based language models always focused on meaningful, real-world outcomes.

With a background in physics (London), and an MBA and PhD (UTS), Suresh co-designed Australia’s first Master of Data Science and Innovation. As the first data scientist at Chartered Accountants ANZ, Suresh helped lead their shift into cloud and AI.

Prof Danielle McConville, Professor of Accounting Education, Head of Department, Queen’s University Belfast

Danielle McConville is a Professor of Accounting Education, Chartered Accountant (CAI) and Head of Department for Accounting at Queen’s Business School, Queen’s University Belfast.

Danielle teaches Accounting Information Systems (Year 1), Contemporary Technologies in Accounting (Year 3) and Management Accounting. She is a passionate advocate for edtech, implementing technologies including AccountingPod in her teaching of Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and Xero. She has led curriculum change that embeds technologies in Accounting pathways. Her research explores the impact of edtech on accounting students, including how technologies can help students build self-efficacy with Accounting, and how Accounting students engage with profession-relevant technologies.

Danielle holds a PhD in Accounting from QUB, and her research interests are in accounting education, the impact of contemporary technologies on the accounting profession and education, and not-for-profit reporting and regulation.

Dr Edwin Lim, Associate Professor of Accounting, Head of Department, Monash University Malaysia

Dr. Edwin Lim is the Head of Department of Accounting and Associate Professor of Accounting at the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia. He is a Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and a Certified Practising Accountant Australia (CPA Australia). He also currently serves as an Honorary Associate Professor of Accounting at Deakin University Australia. He earned his PhD from Monash University Australia, and has held academic positions at both Monash Australia and Deakin University.

Edwin's teaching philosophy is rooted in the intersections between professional practicum, employability skills, and technological innovation. He has significant experience in course development and accreditation programs for CPA Australia-CAANZ. In 2021, Edwin and his team received the Australian Awards for University Teaching, a prestigious national award, for their outstanding contribution to student learning through the development of an impactful undergraduate capstone accounting unit at Deakin that integrates business simulations and employability skills.

His research interests revolve around financial accounting, corporate reporting, auditing, corporate governance, business strategy, sustainability reporting, ESG, climate change disclosures, human capital/employee treatment and capital markets. In addition to publishing in ABDC A*/A/Q1 ranked internationally peer-reviewed journals, Edwin has successfully secured research grants from the Australian Accounting Standards Board, Bursa Malaysia, Cagamas Berhad, and the Ministry of Education, China.

Dr Andrew Dymock, Senior Lecturer of Accounting, University of New South Wales

Dr Andrew Dymock is a highly experienced business educator, practitioner, and researcher with a background in teaching at the Secondary and Tertiary levels. He also has worked as an accountant and auditor. Andrew has been involved in providing professional development training and education to new educators in the Secondary and Tertiary Education sectors.

Andrew has a Master's in Teaching and a Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting, with a focus on financial accounting and asset impairment. He has lectured and tutored in a range of undergraduate and postgraduate business subjects at UNSW and UTS and is highly regarded by fellow staff and students as an excellent communicator and a highly engaging, innovative and empathetic educator. He has a passion for seeing students use accounting knowledge and skills to understand and run successful businesses and have a positive impact on society.

Andrew also enjoys collaborating with other educators and undertaking educational research to continue developing cutting-edge best practice techniques to boost the quality of students' learning and enhance the skillset of educators, both within Accounting and across a range of disciplines.

Dr Nicola Beatson, Associate Professor of Accounting, University of Canterbury

Her research explores how students learn, develop confidence, engage with their studies, and exercise professional judgment, with a particular focus on the non-cognitive dimensions of accounting education.

Nicola is an active contributor to the accounting and finance academic community. She served as President of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) in 2023 and 2024, rejoined the AFAANZ Board in August 2025 for a further two year term.

Nicola welcomes expressions of interest from prospective PhD students interested in accounting education, higher education, and related fields.

Her teaching and research excellence have been recognised through multiple awards, including the University of Otago's Overall Premier Lecturer award, an Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Otago Business School's Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award.

Nicola is an Associate Editor of Accounting Education and serves on the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Accounting Education and Pacific Accounting Review.

Dr Sheri Markose, Professor of Economics

Sheri Markose is a Professor of Economics at the University of Essex and has a PhD from the London School of Economics. As Founder Director of the Centre for Computational Finance and Economic Agents, Sheri has pioneered a multi-disciplinary curriculum for FinTech and digital economy at Essex. This has culminated in the AI-FincubeX | University of Essex Tech incubator where students are trained to develop operationally relevant solutions for FinTech and digital economy. Her most recent advisory roles have been on Central Bank Digital Currency at the Bank of England and a MENA central bank. She has developed a data driven population scale agent-based model for these economies to design and implement successful adoption of CBDC in the face of dominant bank deposit-based digital payments.

She has helped to digitally map the Indian financial system using network modelling and the Markose-Giansante R-number stability index to manage systemic risk at the Financial Stability Unit of the Reserve Bank of India. She has been consultant to the IMF for systemic risk from derivatives and was an academic advisor to the G20 OTC Derivatives Regulatory Reforms. Her longstanding interest in the foundations of Complexity Sciences, Computation Theory and Gödel Incompleteness results has helped her formulate the significance of Adversarial Digital Games and How We Became Smart based on Godel’s Liar. These are shown to result in an arms race in novelty and surprises within a framework of a genomic blockchain. Since 2017, Sheri has been an Associate Editor of Frontiers Robotics and AI and in 2025 she edited a Special Topic on AI and AGI with leading computer and neuro scientists.
