| AFAANZ 2026 MENTORING PROGRAM OVERVIEW |
|
|
Mentoring is a partnership where help, support and guidance is provided to facilitate the learning and development of others. The aim is for mentors – experienced or more senior accounting and finance academics – to offer support, motivation, and access to knowledge and assistance to mentees in setting and reaching their development goals. Mentoring can operate in both group and individual settings. While group mentoring in one-off sessions has been successful for women AFAANZ members in the past, this program open to all AFAANZ members and comprises individual mentors working with individual mentees.
PROGRAM GOALS AND OBJECTIVES The program will match academics either working in institutional member universities, or who are individual members with a more senior staff member to: -
Reflect on and build academic, personal, and professional skills
- More effectively navigate accounting and finance research, education, and engagement opportunities
- Grow their leadership capabilities, and
- Identify opportunities to enhance their potential for career progression.
In 2026 the program will again focus on ECR mentees. AFAANZ is now calling for applications from mentees and mentors interested in taking part in the 2026 Mentoring Program. The Program will run for five months from February to June 2026 and will involve a number of online workshops during this time period.
For the purposes of the program an ECR is defined as a person that has graduated from their PhD in the past five years AND is a Level A through to Level C academic.
For any queries on the Mentoring Program contact Martin Bugeja To register your interest, please register as a Mentee or Mentor below (applications close Monday 26 January):
