AFAANZ 2026 Conference
Call for Papers
AFAANZ is devoted to a broad spectrum of accounting and finance research, and we welcome innovative research approaches as well as those that are well established. Paper submissions are invited for the 2026 Conference in the broad areas of accounting, auditing, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, education, finance, management accounting, tax, and other related fields. Best paper awards and outstanding reviewer awards will also be presented at the 2026 Conference. AFAANZ encourages new and developing researchers to attend the conference.
AFAANZ 2026 will be held face-to-face at the Pullman Albert Park Hotel in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia from Sunday 5 July to Tuesday 7 July 2026. The two plenary speakers at the 2026 Conference will be: - Anastasiya Lipnevich, Professor of Educational Psychology at the City University of New York
- Scientia Professor Ron Masulis, UNSW Sydney
Guidelines for Submission Papers can now be submitted at https://www.openconf.org/afaanz2026/openconf.php Papers will only be considered if at least one author is an individual member of AFAANZ, with members enjoying a reduced registration fee for the conference. To become a member of AFAANZ, please go to https://www.afaanz.org/membership.
All submitted papers will undergo a blind review process conducted by the Technical Committee. To maintain the integrity of this process, please ensure that your submission contains no identifying information. This includes your name, address, email, acknowledgments, or any expressions of gratitude. The first page of your manuscript should only include the paper's title, abstract, and keywords. Any additional information typically found on a cover page must be entered during the online submission process.
While there is no required manuscript format or page limit, full working papers are expected as submissions. Submission Date
Papers must be submitted by Friday, 6 February 2026, 5pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time. Late submissions will NOT be accepted. Notification Email notification of the outcome and review feedback of submissions is expected to be sent to the submitting author in April 2026. Conference Technical Committee As planning is underway for our upcoming conference, and we are seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to volunteer and serve as a part of the Conference Technical Committee.
The Committee plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of the conference program, including reviewing submissions, assisting with program development, and supporting the delivery of sessions during the event. This is a great opportunity to: - Contribute to the success of the conference

AFAANZ AAA & EAA PhD Colloquium Representatives A great opportunity is now open for PhD students to represent AFAANZ at the American (AAA) and European (EAA) Accounting Association PhD colloquiums in 2026.
The 2026 AAA/Deloitte Foundation/J. Michael Cook Doctoral Consortium during June (exact dates to be confirmed) at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas; and the 42nd EAA Doctoral Colloquium will take place at Prague University of Economics & Business (TBC) on 23-26 May 2026 immediately prior to the EAA Annual Congress.
Students need to have attended a prior AFAANZ Doctoral Symposium and be a current member alongside other listed criteria. AFAANZ Doctoral Education Network (AFDEN) Quantitative Research in Sustainability Accounting |
AFAANZ is proud to present the following research training course facilitated by Professor Naomi Soderstrom Overview
This course is designed to give students a background on accounting sustainability research. The course will trace the development of the field, identifying research themes, methods, and challenges in pursuing sustainability research topics. The course consists of three 2-hour modules. The first will an overview of historical sustainability-related research, identifying themes that resonate with current research. The second module will focus on market valuation of climate-related disclosures. The focus on disclosure is particularly relevant for Australian researchers given the new climate-related reporting standards in Australia as well as new disclosure requirements under IFRS. The third module will focus on measurement issues in sustainability research, particularly related to measuring sustainability performance.
The first module will be held online, and the remaining modules will be held in-person at the University of Melbourne: Module 1: Monday 13 October 2025, two hours, online 10:00-12:00 AEST
Modules 2-3: Friday 7 November 2025, four hours, in person 10:00-12:00; 13:00-15:00 at the University of Melbourne - Room 8.038, The Spot, 198 Berkeley Street, Parkville. Final Assessment Due: Friday 5 December 2025, 5 p.m.

Accounting History is pleased to announce that the 13th Accounting History International Conference (AHIC) will be hosted by the University of Wollongong, Australia from 8-11 July 2026. We invite scholars, practitioners, and researchers to contribute to “Accounting through the ages: Lessons for modern challenges,” a conference that bridges our rich accounting heritage with contemporary challenges. The Accounting History Special Interest Group (AHSIG) of AFAANZ is pleased to announce the 24th Accounting History Symposium, which will be held online on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, at 7:00 pm (AEDT-Australia). The Symposium provides a collegial and supportive forum for researchers at all stages of their careers to present, discuss, and refine their work in accounting history and related areas. The symposium will feature a keynote by the authors of the 2024 Gibson Award-winning paper: “Of power, knowledge and method: The influence of Michel Foucault in accounting history” by Michele Bigoni, Laura Maran, and Zeila Occhipinti. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has published the Corporate Tax Transparency report for 2023-24.
The 11th annual report provides the data and analysis of 4,110 corporate entities including Australian public and private companies, and foreign owned companies.
